Equalis offers a vast array of courses that specialise
in the Community Services sector. Not only do we offer
Certificate and Diploma level training in Disability
Work, Children’s Services, Youth Services, Aged
Care, Frontline Management, Home & Community Care,
and Employment Services; we also have on offer a number
of Specialised Short Courses to meet specific criteria
(such as accreditation) or individual service needs.
We are proud of our ability to offer a variety of
training models to meet the needs of all our clients.
We understand that not everyone is able to commit to
formal training 2-3 nights a week or may be located
in a rural or remote area that, in the past, has limited
their opportunity to access formal training. In response
to this, Equalis has established a number of training
models that enable participants to choose the model
that works best for them.
Current Training Models:
- In-House Training – In this training model, Equalis staff will meet the participants
in their place of employment, at a time that suits
the service. We
go to you, rather than you come to us.
- Distance Education - This training model is for
students and organisations that may be located
in rural and
remote areas or prefer their training delivered
in this style. With this model clients can train
and learn
at their own pace and in their own space. Learning
and assessment material can be provided in either
hard copy or on CD. An allocated trainer, in
consultation
with the client, develops a contact schedule for
support and monitoring of their training progress.
- e-Learning - Our e-Learning training has been
developed in partnership with a company called
Learning Seat.
Learning Seat has used our content for the Certificate
III and IV in Disability Work and Certificate
III and IV in Aged Care Work and designed them
for
the e-Leaning
platform. It is our vision that in the near future
all of our courses will be available in this
form to optimise accessibility.
- Traineeships - Traineeships offered by Equalis are
delivered as a flexible work-based traineeship,
combining on-the-job experience and training,
with a structured
training and assessment course provided by Equalis working
with your organisation. Traineeships offer an
effective and economical option for Agencies
to
enhance the skills and knowledge of their staff.
- Workshop / Seminar - Equalis provides
workshop and seminar-style training based on
our library of courses
currently available. Equalis is
constantly requested by our clients to develop
new courses and/or customise
our existing range of available courses and we
have gained a reputation of being able to develop
and deliver
whatever is required.
“Flexible Training”.…Elective Options & Dual
Certificates
Our flexible training options are what make Equalis a preferred Registered Training Organisation for those
in the Community Services Sector. We give services
the opportunity to tailor training content to meet
their organisational needs, whether it be through incorporating
Policies & Procedures into the training content,
or the development of a Specialised Short Course to
address an individual service need (for example, particular
client issues such as mental health or Dual Diagnosis).
We also offer Dual Certification options, for those
who work in a multi-faceted service and would benefit
from achieving two certificates, rather than just one.
For example, we have been able to consecutively run
Certificates in Aged Care and Disability studies to
an organisation that provide service to ageing clients
with disabilities. This has obvious impact for clients
and community, and staff have the benefits of achieving
dual qualifications in a supported environment. From
a management perspective, the organisation gains a
multi–skilled and therefore adaptable work force.
We have also combined the Certificate III and Certificate
IV courses for another service, enabling participants
to achieve both certificates within a 12 month timeframe.
All of our courses are externally reviewed by experts
in the field to ensure the content of our training
materials are of the highest quality.
